I love my country BCOZ (**)

1. Because malai mero desh ko WAVE magazine ekdum man parcha.

2. Because we don't mind making fun of ourselves.

3. Because anything can happen here. Anything!

4. Because no matter how many problems we face, how much this country throws shit at us, when someone asks why you love Nepal, we flood the comment box.

5. Because we have so many holidays.

6. Because I am a Nepali.

7. Because mobile SIM cards are cheaper than vegetables.

8. Because we get yummy titaura here.

9. Because we are different, just look at our flag.

10. Because we feel uncomfortable when we see a slipper flipped upside down.

11. Because we never pass temples without doing darshan.

12. Because it doesn't feel like we have had dinner until we have bhat.

13. Because no matter how independent we think we are, we still live with family.

14. Because Nepal has always been an independent state. It has never been ruled by anyone other than a Nepali.

15. Because we don't need a license to get drunk.

16. Because we can roll our bike on the footpath.

17. Because we can get home at 9pm and blame it on the "jam".

18. Because we are so laidback that when you go to buy emergency medicine, you find the pharmacy guy checking his Facebook.

19. Because there are live music restaurants like Neon pub.

20. Because we are the most environmentally nation in the world. The winter power cuts see to that.

21. Because they postpone students' examination so that political parties can have their sammelan.

22. Because we are the most friendly people in the world.

23. Because we get holidays for any and every occasion. Last year we got holiday for New Year four times.

24. Because our TV channels show ads of expensive cosmetics, jewellery, automobiles and exotic holiday destination, then follow it with an ad for "disha pisab gare pachhi haat dhuna nabirsanu hola".

25. Because politicians get the spotlight more than film actors.

26. Because Nepalis are excellent drunk drivers (not always though).

27. Because we have Mount Everest to brag about.

28. Because people celebrate festivals together, no matter what background they are from.

29. Because public transport vehicles stop anywhere on the road for you. Sometimes they even reverse to pick you up.

30. Because we wait in line for hours and hours for fast food at KFC.

31. Because most days when I reach the bus stop to go to college, I find out there is a banda.

32. Because we have so many New Years to celebrate.

33. Because software, games and films that cost hundreds of dollars can be found for a hundred rupees.

34. Because even though we experienced bird flu before the rest of the world, we didn't whinge like the rest of them.

35. Because we share food with the person sitting next to us in a micro bus.

36. Because Nepal is a wonderland. You can be in the midst of the city, and yet see the snow-clad mountains.

37. Because there is no age limit for drinking. Well, practically speaking...

38. Because at 5'10 you get to feel like the tallest person in the country.

39. Because we don't get sick of listening to (or rather playing covers of) Guns n' Roses, Bob Marley, Jim Morrison, RATM, and Nirvana.

40. Because no matter which restaurant you go to, you will find momo and chowmein on the menu.

41. Because we have very predictable and stable politics because nothing ever changes. We get the same old crooks to rule us.

42. Because we don't worry about how hard life is as we know our next life will be better.

43. Because you can design a home with completely non-functional tympanums, five unnecessary arches, eight non-load-bearing Corinthian columns, and no one will say anything.

44. Because we were doing the organic, locally-sourced food thing before the bideshis caught up with it. 45. Because you can get away with anything.

46. Because Buddha was born here.

47. Because the weather is great. At least in Kathmandu.

48. Because you can spend your entire working day drinking tea and reading the newspaper and no one will say anything.

49. Because you have the liberty to honk endlessly like you own the road.

50. Because our national pastime is gossip
